Trump just sued the New York Times for $15 billion for defamation and libel. Key harm? Endorsing Kamala Harris and opposing him editorially. Now is the time for a civil suit against Trump for all the damages his defaming lies and libel have done to Americans who do not support him. The suit should be for $75 trillion - $1,000,000 for each person who voted for Harris. The Supreme Court ruling that you can’t try a sitting President for official acts while in office should not apply here, since defaming and libeling opponents are not official acts of a president of the United States.

Carolyn Enloe's avatar

Defaming and libeling opponents are not supposed to be official acts of POTUS, but Donnie is a very special boy…

Philip Witmer's avatar

Since it would be a civil suit, I believe he has no immunity, especially if it's brought in a state court. Am I right?

Barry Gerber's avatar

Technically, yes, but Trump will try to apply the immunity decision anyway.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

But it wouldn't work.

Sandi Hamilton's avatar

I'll sign up for this

Barry Gerber's avatar

That’s the question how do we motivate lawyers to join in building such a civil lawsuit. The ultimate goal is to win, but just filing the suit will turn the tables on Trump’s use of lawsuits to silence his opponents. We the people, even half of we the people are stronger than one criminally convicted old man suing every time someone says something about him he doesn’t like.

Yesterday I read about the lawyer, Steven Kiker? who is representing a number of people that have been fired illegally. So I’m hoping that there are others like him.

Sandi Hamilton's avatar

We'll definitely need lawyers who are not scared

Joan Wiersma's avatar

I want to be IN on this!

laura oshea's avatar

But this would be a civil suit and that is not the same and may be allowed!!!!

Barry Gerber's avatar

As I noted above, Trump will try to claim immunity. He's even trying to claim it in the E Jean Carrol civil case. I'm sure least 5 of Trump's gang of 6 on the court could find some Alice in Wonderland argument in favor of immunity.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

So what!? He always does that anyways. Who gives a shit? Not I!!

Karen Hormel's avatar

It's worth a try? But when you have SCOTUS breaking laws to protect Trump and the GOP MCs...we really do need to fight.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

OF COURSE it's worth a try. We CAN'T keep laying down. They'll trample all of us.

Rymes1's avatar

Hope NYT doesn't yield to tRump.

Judy Cross's avatar

One great big class action lawsuit.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE that idea!!! WHO do we get to represent us?

JavaJunkyMonkey's avatar

I will never shut up. I will never back down. I will never kiss trumps ass.

That is fucking that.

Trump and Vance (and other MAGAs) keep saying when commenting on the Charlie Kirk killing that "statistics show" more violent acts are committed by the "left" than the "right." I thought, this cannot be right, what are they talking about? A quick Google search shows zero studies to support that statement, and a list of ones showing the opposite. No surprise there, but if you are curious, one scientific article can be found at https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9335287/ and "The Economist" just did an article on the subject at https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2025/09/12/is-radical-left-violence-really-on-the-rise-in-america. The truth matters. Fact check me. :)

You gotta know, anything to steer away from Epstein-

Joan Wiersma's avatar

Yep!! We CAN'T let that die! I post it at least a few times a day and usually more!

Love the UK and the Aussie journalist!

Laura G's avatar

Ditto!

It lifts my spirits when I see/hear how people in other parts of the world are reacting/letting their feelings be known about what is happening in our country. I take more comfort from those sources than I do from those on our soil (save for Lawrence O'Donnell and a few other brave souls).

I can't wait until Australia starts replying to the orange twerp. They're right up there with the Scottish for insults.

Vance is the worst VP in our country's history, serving the worst president in our history. And kash Patel and dangerous bongino are the worst men to ever head the FBI.

Looks like the Brits decided to roll out the welcome mat 😂

F*ck tRump and the horse he rode in on. F*ck his entire administration.

Great movie. One of my favorites since I was a kid.

I’m waiting for Junk Dripping Vance to realize that taxpayers money is being wasted to pay off pieces of shit like Ashley Babbit’s family and J6 criminals, but yeah, tell me why a bigots death is becoming a Passion Play.

I'm glad I don't live in the US anymore (Dallas, Atlanta 1998 - 2006) as I think the world is a better place without that misogynist, racist, POS Kirk in it. I do not support political violence but putting aside how he was removed, yeah no great loss.

Problem is that the blood thirsty right wants to punish people like me (come on up. I'll show you a real "warm" welcome) but those of you do live in the US and who post the same are in danger of being doxed - or worse.

Now we know why trumpstein chose Juicy Dicknugget - because he's just a rabid a fascist as trumpstein - probably even more-so.

So, if you're playing the 'drink every time Schumer says bipartisan' game, you get to take another drink. I hope your liver isn't inflamed.

The link in Note 16 goes to "server not found".

Expect the NYT to continue to throw barbs at democrats when given the opportunity, and provide cover for trumpstein's worst.

Claudia Miller's avatar

WT absolute fuck is wrong with these 'centrist' Dems? Do they not realize where we are at in this country? I just do not get it. Who wants to join a party that is acting like bipartisanship is the way to go right now and look weak? Are they thinking being a moderate is going to favor them with the Independents? -shrug- I will not leave or give up on the Dems but they are sure making it hard. I will keep pushing them 'til they come to their senses.

Most of them are still living in the 20th century. The dinosaurs need to go. Governor Pritzker seems to have a grip. If nothing else I’m going to send him a letter of appreciation.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

I'm telling folks that if we don't vote Progressive, WE WILL LOSE! It is THAT simple. They are True, Honest, Determined, Intelligent fighters that KNOW HOW to clean this up and fix this MESS that Trump & Co made. Fuck them ALL and vote Progressive to SAVE OUR COUNTRY!

When is the next therapy session? I'm in desperate need this week. My husband told me he wanted to go to Charlie Kirk's memorial in Arizona and we proceeded to have an enormous argument. I need to talk with some Sexy Patriots.

You mean you are staying with the creep?

Christina's avatar

Sigh. Yes. For now. Although this has brought us pretty close to the brink.

Lois Henry's avatar

Don’t stay for the children’s sake. Think of the influence.

2nd marriage, no mutual kids and no kids at home. Despite his misguided affection for Kirk, this man has treated me like a queen. He spoils me rotten, and does every bit of housekeeping because he knows how much I hate it. He does not act like a man who thinks women should submit to their husbands. I am the primary breadwinner, and my job involves a lot of travel, and he supports me and he is proud of how accomplished I am in my career. It's a strange dichotomy that I don't entirely understand.
