If you also have acid reflux, get an endoscopy as well as a colonoscopy. My partner was talked into a an endoscopy at the same time as his routine colonoscopy in April 2023 by a diligent nurse practitioner and a small malignancy was found near the junction of esophagus/stomach. It was removed endoscopically & a year of ablations to remove pre cancerous cells lining the esophagus {known as Barrett's Esophagus] followed and a second more aggressive malignant tumor was found in May of 2024. By the time the esophagus & stomach were reconfigured in early July to remove the medium sized tumor, several lymph nodes were involved & removed. After 8 weeks of tube feeding, he began 6 months of chemo. He's doing well now, although struggling to put on weight. Part of the stomach was used to extend the esophagus [but it doesn't work like an esophagus] so the stomach is now essentially inside the rib cage and very small. It's a hairy fucking surgery, at best. So besides that colonoscopy, if you have acid reflux check into an endoscopy as well. Unless you're a giant asshole like Trump in which case, no worries.
