this may not be a direct response to this article but my comment for today all day everywhere: There is a group that knew Executive Orders would destroy Democracy and salivated at the idea... shall I say Heritage Foundation? Between EO's & Citizens United we had a Trojan Horse come in to take our country away and hand it to the oligarchs. They plopped a guy in the saddle that only responds to green shiny objects but their hands are on the wheel... We cannot stop, it will be hard work and we must build the wall they can't break down to get what they want. I am tired , scared and will do what I can...as my sign states "I can't believe I still have to protest this F**KING SH*T" your 78 yo hippie here..still standing.
Totally agree. The actions taken by T since January 2025 inauguration were not a secret. The plan for 2025, compiled and written by the Heritage Foundation was available by all to see on the internet for many months before the election November 2024. Don’t forget to keep track on your Bingo card.
I am scared, Adam. I am 68 retired and have to deal with pain in a daily basis. I want to get back to work as it's only been 5 yrs being retired. But there are times that I cannot even move. How is my new boss going to take that. I'm afraid he will fire me. Being homeless is what terrifies me the most. I only get $1200/month on social security. My tent keeps going up. I can't save to get out of these apartments as to why I want to work. I made applications but they reply back we found more suitable candidates but thank you for considering us. If they take my tiny check away, that will be the end of me.

Among the texts that cadets are no longer allowed to access are: “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou, “Our Time Is Now: Power, Purpose, and the Fight for a Fair America” by Stacey Abrams and "Memorializing the Holocaust” by Janet Jacobs.
This is a priceless Substack article! Yes, there’s a lot of darkness (an old “friend” of mine) in our current situation, but there’s outstanding humor sprinkled throughout your writing. What separates the heroes from the cowards is the ability to endure dark times with as much grace as one can muster. Thank you, Adam, for your constant effort to lift our spirits.
Trump has exhibited signs of derangement/dementia long before he was elected. Why does nobody question his mental health and challenge him to a full evaluation? Have all the bobbleheads surrounding him not seen this and don't care? A madman is leading us off the cliff. He makes Nero look not so bad.
We are seeing a rewrite of the facts and replacing it with a slanted dialog as the news is distorted. Watch as we see a reset of markets as the world tries to absorb trumps failures are ever made clear . we the people must stand up for those who are voiceless and have not found there path to discovery of the truths of others. We can win against Lies and division if we pay attention.
Make and keep copies of everything you can that they are trying to erase. They cannot block and erase everything - my older dictionaries and encyclopedias, my copies of the books they are banning, all have their own space. Maybe there will be thousands and tens of thousands of the same books saved, but just maybe, you will have saved the only or one of the very few of something so worthwhile. Biographies, autobiographies, histories of non-white people in this country and the same for women in this country. I browse a used-bookstore every time I am out shopping. If I get two copies of a banned book, I put one of them in our local little free library.
We were so lucky that when the GOP crashed the economy Obama was already on his way to fix it. And Biden got us out of the covid mess. Four more years of this is unsustainable.
I despise them all so but as hard as it maybe, we have to stop buying things….a real strike. They don’t care if we die or if we march, they just want money and power. They are terrorists of the worse order and we need to take away what they terrorise with.
BUY USED. Keep the money flowing to charitable organizations that collect used everything and use profits to directly help those in need (rather than prop up patriarchal family systems)
He might have been golfing, but the Senate will be recessing after Friday and not in session April 14-25th smack dab in the middle of an economic crisis. That has to be an "are you f***ing kidding me" moment. They need to stay in session and do what we the taxpayers pay them to do.
I can’t believe the orange conman has the balls to be photographed playing golf in a Saudi tournament while he’s created massive chaos on our planet. There is a place for him in the desert just outside of Vegas.
