Rep Williams: when our government quits kidnapping people, murdering people in cold blood, abdicating their duties as congress in obeying their leader, destroying our economy and other things too numerous to mention, I will stay home and not join in protests. Fuck off until then.

On a related topic in Minnesota, how can the MAGAts be so stupid for a second time? The hoax of the century was not Geraldo Rivera (a rightwing POS - just cuz I feel like calling him out), Al Capone's Vault, it was DOGE.

Wind back a year ago, and all you heard from Republicans was how they were going to uncover a trillion dollars or more in waste, fraud, and abuse. Where are the indictments for fraud? Where is the money they saved for the US taxpayers? A complete fucking scam that nobody talks about anymore, so now they are focusing on the Somolias.

besides affordability, Dems should campaign on this:

"The Supreme Court has not been a check on Trump’s abuse of power. The Republican Congress has not been a check on Trump’s abuse of power. Only you, the American people, voting for a Democratic Congress can be a check on his power. No matter your political affiliation, vote Democrat. We will get things done.”

Especially with Trump’s terrifying overreaching his power now abroad as well, Democrats need to take advantage of that argument; along with affordability.

• How Donald Trump Has Maximized His Power

• Hold a contest where people either submit or vote on the most power-hungry actions/proposals/quotes by Trump. Then utilize/publicize the winning entries in various ways. Build messaging specifics and hold events/activities to highlight how Trump has abused his presidential powers and run roughshod over democracy and the Constitution-- like holding a series of shadow Congressional hearings.

• Inside the New Fast Track to a Presidential Pardon—and granting pardons to rioters// another example of power run amuck. When they return to Washington next week, House Democrats plan to mark the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol with an informal hearing that will highlight Republicans’ efforts to rewrite the history of a riot by a pro-Trump mob. He (Jeffries) also said that lawmakers would explore “ongoing threats to free and fair elections posed by an out-of-control Trump administration.” Publicize widely.

• Using his power for retribution: Why does President Donald Trump care about a project to bring safe drinking water to communities in Colorado. According to Republicans and Democrats in the state, the answer is simple: Political retribution. And the Trump Administration tells 5 Dem states their childcare funds have been frozen.

• “We live in a world, in the real world … that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power. These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.” — Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, quoted by the New York Times

• Re: Trump’s Venezuelan action: Booker, however, argued Saturday that the Republican-led Congress has allowed Trump to get away with “reckless” actions without accountability. “No hearings. No serious investigations. No enforcement of checks and balances. No accountability,” Booker said. “Again and again, the president has exceeded his authority, defied congressional intent, trampled the separation of powers, and broken the law — while Congress looked away in cowardice and submission.” Need a Democratic Congress.

• And now he is threatening other countries, so further pushing his power—while he neglects domestic issues, like affordability. Plus, an attack on Greenland would trigger NATO's core principle of collective defense, making it a matter for the entire alliance to address. A scary proposition.

In connection with his inauguration and second presidential term, Donald Trump is poised to swear to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” There wasn’t as much reason to focus on that specific wording when he took office for the first round. But this time it’s more notable, given that Trump subsequently argued that he never swore to “support” the Constitution. Remember when Trump’s lawyers argued he never swore to ‘support’ the Constitution? In May, President Trump — when asked on "Meet the Press with Kristen Welker" if he thinks he needs to uphold the Constitution — said, "I don't know," but added that his lawyers "are obviously going to follow what the Supreme Court said."

• Trump Administration Upends Prosecution of White-Collar Crime: Justice Department has shifted away from several areas of enforcement while Trump’s pardons have undone prominent convictions Using power in yet another way.

• House Democrats Squander the Opportunity on Trumpian Corruption | Portside--- use of power in corrupt, self-serving ways. Trump promised to “drain the swamp” of corruption in D.C., but is in fact running the most corrupt administration in American history. Dems have a golden opportunity to be the anti-corruption party—a winner electorally as Trump found.

“Jacksoffto Davenports” is my new fave JD.

If the only thing that can stop Trump is his “own morality,” we are well and truly fucked.

Laura Ingraham is a vile, heartless troll. Man I hate that woman. And I am so fucking pissed that I have so much hate in my heart because of her and Trump and Miller and all the rest of those assholes.

My sweet Catholic Mother, who passed away a year ago on Jan 6, 2025, once went to confession because she was concerned the hate she felt for Trump was morally wrong and would damage her immortal soul. The priest listened, paused, and then simply responded, “You’re not alone.” We held her funeral mass on Inauguration Day 2025. It seemed fitting.

Sam & Adam you are spot on about the Dem party. Why TF would Klobuchar vote to confirm a, of all things, a JUDGE, that refuses to say 2020 was legit? I am sick and tired of these weak Dems voting for nominees who have no business being in our system. I'm pissed that Senator Gallego voted for someone too (not sure if it was the same nominee). WHEN are these Dems going to get a clue about what is going on in this country? Again, it is no wonder we are losing various demographics for our party. Actually 'leaders' should be standing on the steps of Congress and screaming bloody murder about the masked, secret police Stephen Miler & Trump have put on our streets. I will not be leaving the party but I will continue to give them a piece of my mind
