Always link the two in any messages going out so it gets firmly implanted in voter’s minds so that whenever they hear about either concern they will think of the other.
Rahm Emanuel told Semafor that Democrats “should sharpen their arguments about President Donald Trump’s self-dealing while in office — by hitching them to affordability-focused messaging.” Said Emanuel: “This is a gem sitting there. I think the Democrats … have been episodic in touching it, rather than front and center. Corruption as part of the affordability narrative is more chess, where affordability alone is more checkers.”
Democrats zero in on an anti-corruption message: From the Politics Desk. Democrats think their secret sauce in 2026 is targeting Trump and Republicans on corruption. “We’re doing it in every corner of the country,” said one national Democratic strategist. “And the idea is it’s an affordability cycle, and so everybody cares about affordability, No. 1, when you pair the message with the reason that your costs are going up is because politicians care more about themselves, they’re corrupt, they’re bought by corporate donors or they’re lining their own pockets, and that’s why they’re not looking out for you, that’s the most potent mix of the two arguments.”
House Democrats launch new anti-corruption caucus targeting Trump-era ethics concerns. And, importantly, what specifically will a) Democrats promise to do if elected to counter abuse/democracy/corruption that they can campaign on as well; and b) Democrats promise to do if elected to increase affordability.
The Shonda Rhimes oval office is SO lovely, clean, tidy, professional, uncluttered... unlike the current ghastly ghoul's version of it. Thank you, Shonda, for the reminder!!!
I may be late to the party on this - but we all know the real reason Trump doesn't like mail-in ballots... because they have to be COUNTED and can't be manipulated, unlike electronic voting machines.
Also - I voted for Katie Porter and she was at least in the double-digits AND was the only one that didn't take corporate donations. She was also endorsed by the San Francisco Chronicle, and they wrote that she was the only one with a feasible plan for all the policies she talked about, unlike the other 999 Dem candidates that were on the ballot. Rusty Hicks, the CA Dem leader needs to be fired over this debacle.
Was so happy to see Albanians protesting the Jered/Ivanka deal. Of course, it also made me think of an old Cheers episode where Sam is trying to pass a class in geography by singing the facts he needs to memorize...
