I was a Dodger fan for 75 years. Then they went to the Whitehouse, then they were silent on the kidnapping of loyal fans, then banned a singer who sang the Spanish version of The Star Spangled Banner. They deserve NO KUDOS yet

I hope these soldiers in the army do not take illegal orders from these fascist assholes they swore in. This is fucking nonsense and yes, Peter Theil is collecting our data and setting up Palantir to create a police state.

We need a fucking plan to somehow thwart what is going on before it’s too late. A general strike is in order and bigger peaceful protests.

it might be true that Iran has never been closer to a nuclear weapon. The question is: is it closer than it was ten years ago?

The very same thing is true of Zambia or Bolivia or Switzerland.

1) This merger of the surveillance capabilities of Meta, Palantir, and AI with the enforcement capabilities of the National Guard under the SCOTUS-enabled DJT "exceptions" to the laws governing (and limiting) its federalization have the capability to result in a debacle that will make the post-9/11 NSA abuses of domestic spying limits seem like a high school dress rehearsal. This significant and comprehensive government data aggregation surveillance risk has been blazingly apparent for some time in numerous Substack articles. Perhaps now the Dem leadership will awaken, along with privacy-respecting groups such as those libertarians, legacy (true) conservatives, and progressives who each work to reform the system rather than destroying it.

2) i wonder if these new cosplaying Army NG "soldiers" understand that during their 120 days of active duty every year they are subject fully to the provisions of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Any (properly trained and experienced) Army JAGC prosecutor can confirm that "What happens on annual duty does NOT stay on annual duty" (i.e., liability for criminal activity does not evaporate automatically at the end of one's active duty period). In the not-so-distant past, it was easy to extend a NG member's active status beyond the original terms of his or her annual training orders to allow completion of investigations/prosecutions for crimes committed during their activity. This might be a small concern in this situation, but it should be a real concern to them here, especially if they participate in or facilitate violations of data protection statutes and other limits that seem to be among the likely goals of this unholy alliance. Materialization of that risk, of course, will require replacement of the current crop of lawless hacks running DOD, DOJ, and DHS.

Consequently, I wonder if those unearned commissions came with preemptive pardons or the express promise of them. You would think they would be smart enough to ask.

The social dangers of these developments are open and obvious, playing out like the rest of the GOP corruption program - in plain sight. If you want a glimpse of the future, just look at the actions of DHS: denying entry of any non-citizen traveler simply for political views in social media that are currently disfavored by this regime, e.g., for daring to oppose the ongoing killing of large numbers of civilians in Gaza by the IDF for the "crime" of being within the blast radius of IDF bombs ostensibly directed at Hamas members. I have no love or even toleration for Hamas, Hezbollah, or any terrorist group (of any religion or political party, foreign or domestic), but when "collateral damage/consequences" outnumber and exceed by orders of magnitude the numbers of Hamas casualties, they are no longer "collateral." Dropping bombs on operating and populated hospitals to target Hamas members who may or may not be there is (or should be) wholly indefensible to any civilized person. And that is only one bloody example of the wildly disproportionate IDF response to Hamas's October 7th atrocity.

The road back to civilization is long and the trip will take many years during this cycle between chaotic despotism and social democratic government. One can destroy the work of decades or centuries in a short time - a few months or so. Building/rebuilding will take time and is possible, but first we need to agree on the goals and plans, elect people who are not Dark Triads/Tetrads and eject/neutralize the psychos. Some of us qill not live to see the results, but fight we must. As Dick Winters would say, "Hang tough."

Resist. React. Repeat.

Instead of war, perhaps all the actual leaders of the free world should challenge the 30-something time trump chump club champion to a round of golf. Of course, it would be at a neutral golf course with UN judges following each player at all times. I wonder if the Ayatollah plays...
