I enjoy your newsletter every day and anxiously await it coming out! I’m older and live alone, which I love, but sometimes I feel lonely and isolated living in a rural area without neighbors. I do feel a sense of community here and read the comments and sometimes post on here. Your colorful and hilarious names you give JD make me laugh and boy do I need it! Thanks for your work 😊

You are very much not alone and very much a part of this community here. We live in a similarly isolated situation in the PNW so I feel you. We have to stay focused and connected as best we can.

Barbara Lee, I so resonate with your comment! I’m in the same boat so to speak and I love reading here daily also. I chuckle and sometimes gasp at the atrocities that you learn of, but I read every word. ☮️

A note on the Dodgers losing. 0-3 to the WASHINGTON NATIONALS!! Go Nats! (Maybe meeting Dumpf was a curse).

And I'd like to know why Dumpf exploring legal ways to DEPORT AMERICAN CITIZENS isn't ringing alarm bells everywhere?!?!?

Especially why does he want to DEPORT citizens? This is fascism at it's PEAK!

You can bet your boots that he’s thinking of the citizens’ skin color. And yet he’ll need people to build and run his beautiful manufacturing facilities. The incongruity of his statements is truly alarming.

For the record, Whitmer didn't say she supported Trump's tariffs, she supports incentives to move jobs to America such as targeted tariffs and was explicitly critical of widespread tariff policy and the the auto tariffs. she is going there to lobby for the auto industry, not to kiss the ring.

Disenfranchise married women with married name different from birth certificate...this 'Save Act' should violate the 19th Amendment on Women right to vote

Expand full comment
Fred Jonas's avatar

"Should?" You haven't forgotten what administration, and Congress, and SCOTUS, this is, right? Nothing means anything until we right this ship. Every TBS post starts with the countdown of how many days until the midterms.

Expand full comment
Ruth's avatar

Clarify...the 'should' relates to the idea of 'Save Act' itself being bad as relates to 19th Amendment...the actual result on ALL elections up to and including Midterms (if we get to make it that far) Could mean married women/or others with ANY NAME CHANGES could have id challenged. BTW should challenge J D VANCE FOR ALL HIS NAME CHANGES.

You've been seeing the blowback. In Michigan. In how close the Florida elections were. In courts. In the fact that Republican Congresspeople are so afraid of their own voters that they don't want to go to town halls any more. The cracks will keep cracking, and they'll figure out that they're more afraid of the public than they are of their uncle Donnie, the man-child, god-king, or whatever. I have a good feeling (to which you might say I'm not entitled) about that woman who won a Supreme Court seat in NC, and who's suing whoever wants without explanation to disqualify 68K voters. I strongly doubt even a SCOTUS populated by primitive males would agree that women who get married either shouldn't change their surnames, or, if they do, should thereby have to surrender their right to vote. But again, you can say I'm kidding myself.

In WI, We The People won against Elon/Schimel. WI has a pending Tesla case. BTW, Schimel gracefully conceded to Crawford win...thankfully...unlike NC. In NC, surprised they can challenge only one candidate race on the ballot picking and choosing by district WITHOUT including WHOLE State. Multiple positions on same ballot Statewide District Representatives, Governor, etc that can't be compromised due to officialized? How could any candidate on same ballot be conclusive if even one political office challenged...SMH

Fred Jonas's avatar

I meant Wisconsin. Sorry.

The picking and choosing by district (D) and not the whole state was the whole point. They're trying to remove the D district voters. What's curious is that as far as I know, even if the D wins, the state Supreme Court will still be supermajority R. I don't know why they care. The losing candidate cares, of course, but if they could possibly look at the big picture, they'd see it doesn't make any difference.

This is the kind of nonsense that will come back to bite them in '26.

I need to understand just what the f#%$ Trump thinks deporting US citizens to El Salvador is going to do other than bring more fuel to fire the uprising protests. Make it make sense.

Manda, you've heard many times about Donnie's penchant for "chaos." He's a disrupter. He's entirely about himself, has no use for anything that's not about him, and is looking for attention.

Does that make it make sense?

Thanks for all that you are doing. Reading and hearing the truth helps so much. I am 83 years old and have never been this upset in my lifetime, nor have I ever seen so much disorder. My only hope is that the Senate wakes up and sees that we are heading to Russia without even having to move. He doesn't like the Senate - he's only using them to destroy AMERICA. We are not going to let that happen. Our voices count - but orange jumpsuit doesn't realize that yet. He should just move to Russia and then he can live in the society that he is trying to create for us.

Note: This is a slippery slope. Usha has revealed that poor, poor JD is lonely. JD seems not to have understood that all VPs are lonely. Their biggest job is to sit around waiting in case the P dies. Assuming JD isn't still having sex with couches, is Usha going to nurse him? What? That's less creepy?

Note three: Yeah, I might pay for a ticket to that one.

Note seven: Good. Thanks.

Note eight: I totally get it. When no one likes your platform, because it's for shit, the least you can do is stop them from voting against you.

Note nine: They're waking up? They see what the outcome of this insanity does to them at the polls? They'll get a very big dose in '26, unless they can stop enough sane people from voting.

Note 11: I have no doubt that Elon will start a list of things that make him feel bad, and this will be the first entry. Oh, wait, he's opposed to empathy, so probably not after all.

Note 13: It's paywalled, so I can't read it. But damn, girl. I was countin' on ya, Big Gretch.

Note 14: Well, we can stop picking on Ronnie. He may not like homosexuals, drag, face masks in an epidemic, and mention of racism, but he has no problem with rapists. That's pretty tolerant.

Note 16: I can't imagine a life in which sleeping with MTG isn't the grossest thing imaginable.

"Git em:" Good boy, Trevor. You hedge that bet.

"Asshole fight!:" Never to be forgotten. Karoline Leavitt acknowledged they're all children.

"Not great:"? Very great! I've said many times that nothing will get their attention until they themselves get hurt. Now they'll find out that their uncle Donnie made their cheap lives expensive. (Except I still say that what the Chinese have done is increased the cost of living for their own people. That's what we've been trying to tell the MAGAts Donnie's tariffs have done to them/us. Well, everyone will find out what Jamie Dimon -- "Today's clips," paragraph two -- and others have kept saying: everyone loses in a trade war.)
