Who Flipped a Deep-Red Seat in Georgia? Meet Dr. Jasmine Clark

Jasmine is running for Congress in GA-13. She has a record of WINNING. Are you ready for two Jasmines in Congress?!

Thank you

, , , , , and many others for tuning into my live interview with Dr. Jasmine Clark! For those that missed it you can watch here!

Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark is a mom, microbiologist, and State Representative who found her passion for science and helping others at a young age. Inspired by her father, a doctor, and her mother, a nurse, she received her BA in biology and her PhD in microbiology and cellular genetics from Emory University where she now serves as a professor in the nursing school.

In 2017, in the wake of Donald Trump’s first election, Jasmine recognized the need for a strong science voice in government and decided to run for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives that had been in Republican hands for over 20 years. Despite facing a powerful incumbent Republican who outspent her more than 2:1, Jasmine won and defended the seat again in 2020, 2022, and 2024, despite Gov. Kemp’s re-drawing her district to make it more competitive three times since 2020.

In the legislature, Jasmine has served as a “Science Voice for Georgia” – calling out Republicans when they deliberately misrepresent data, organizing members of the Democratic caucus to block the Republican’s most extreme pieces of legislation, and introducing legislation to create a safer, healthier, more prosperous state for all Georgians.

A native of Metro Atlanta and longtime resident of Lilburn, Jasmine is raising her daughter Jayda, who attends Gwinnett County Public Schools, and her son Jacobe who is a freshman in college. She is a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Lilburn.

Now she’s running for Georgia’s 13th congressional district to bring a science voice to Washington.
