We don’t know who Vice President Kamala Harris is going to pick to be her running mate. But we do know we can trust her to make the right choice.
We of course have our favorites. Sam is from Kentucky and loves Andy Beshear. Adam loves everybody because he’s just full of love like that. There are reports that it’s down to Tim Walz and Josh Shapiro. Mark Kelly has been in the mix. They are all good choices who have proven records of success running and winning on Democratic ideals. You won’t find us saying a bad word about any of them. We’re not downplaying any quarrels you might have with any of them. We’re just saying we believe them to be good people and good public servants.
Because they are such a talented field — a wonderful reminder that the Democratic bench is deep and impressive as hell — Vice President Harris’s first big decision as the nominee is a tough one. But because she is our nominee, because she is our champion, because of her record, because of our faith in her — we aren’t sweating the decision because we know it will be the correct one. For us. And for her.
Because while all of us real and armchair pundits can tell you why the VP should pick this person or that person, she is the one who has to work with them. She has to trust this person. And she has to believe that this person can do that job if the unthinkable should happen. It’s a hard decision. The kind a president has to make. And we know she’s going to ace it.
When she does make the announcement, she is going to explain to Americans why she made the choice she did. If she picks someone you didn’t prefer, please give her an open mind and hear her why. She sat down and spoke with these men. It was her decision. If we trust her to be president, we should trust her to make the right call here.
Our advice is to just enjoy it all. We’re riding a wave of excitement thanks to the VP, and it’s about to go up a notch when she adds a crucial team member. She’s already started kicking Trump’s ass all over the place, and she’s about to get reinforcements.
Democrats are excited. Democrats are unified. Let’s keep both those vibes going and make sure we give a warm welcome to the VP’s pick to be VP. Whoever it is.
I bet the media has their "honeymoon is over" and Dems in disarray stories ready to go, no matter who she picks.
But smart and informed people will ignore that, as well the fauxgressives whining about...anyone Kamala picks.
Perhaps the only benefit to the media being so shitastically bad in covering Trump and the election is that less and less people are buying their b.s.
