I remember when Reagan removed and destroyed the solar panels Carter had installed on the White House. If Donnie pulls this contemptuous nonsense, I hope his ballroom will be razed, too.

Stephan Trump RESISTS in NJ's avatar

You gotta get Donald out of the WH, first. I don’t believe we will have elections in November. When people get upset about it, Donald will declare Martial Law. Donald will send in National Guard and active duty troops in every state. A la Los Angeles.

Fred Jonas's avatar

As I have said before, the pulse I take every day is how likely I think it will be that we'll have elections next year in November. I am honestly not sure. You believe we won't, and you specify a mechanism. Excuse me if I hope you're wrong. I'm not sure you're wrong. I just hope you are.

Well after the Donald LEAVES - if he indeeds succeeds in this expansion, if the new occupant has any sense it will be used for office space - which is pretty crammed, perhaps a better newsroom - there are alot of useful things it could be retooled for. First job is to take off all the gilt it looks cheap.

Johnelle's avatar

We can’t afford to feed children but we can afford this shit?🤬

Val's avatar

I like you saying ‘gilt’. It looks like fake gold, gaudy trash.

KL's avatar

I'm still pissed about the guilded jet remodel.

Elaine H's avatar

WTAF? I thought this has to be a joke. OMG. Not needed, not necessary, waste of money and don’t need any more gold shit

Jonathan Lemieux's avatar

actually it's extremely well documented and bipartisan that the WH is very claustrophobic, and suffers from very small rooms. It has desperately needed larger spaces.

Lori Levine's avatar

Not that fucking ballroom. So what if it's claustrophobic with small rooms. It's the people's house and it reflects the way the vast majority of people live in this country. Stop excusing Trump's egotistical self-agrandisment at the expense of the taxpayers.

Vel Santic's avatar

troll alert - report him and block him, I propose. I did it like this - the abuser "Jonathan Lemieux" is a tRumputinist troll stalking the Pro-Democracy Substacks. Remove him, please, thank you!!

Claudia Miller's avatar

I joined the blocking party! Thanks for the heads up.

Jonathan Lemieux's avatar

well then you'll be happy to hear that this is being built onto the rest of the WhiteHouse. So that claustrophobic feel that you apparently love so much isn't going anywhere

Vel Santic's avatar

huh? so, according to you, the convicted criminal tRumputin "has a right to do what he wants with it", is that what you want to say?? I hope not.

Jonathan Lemieux's avatar

were you complaining this loudly when Dementia Joe charged tax payers 50mil to renovate the Situation Room in the WhiteHouse?

Vel Santic's avatar

u're reported and blocked by me.

Claudia Miller's avatar

I'm starting to see trolling on Substack more and more each day. I guess because it is being sold to the MAGA guy? Anderseen or something like that? I'm getting junk on Simon Rosenberg's substack

Trump and his family far and away outdo any former regime in their slavering devotion to uber extreme tackiness (and also outdo every other plague ever created.) So over this.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Yes, no president should be able to change the White House, as an antique structure it is valuable living history, any changes should be run through congress who has the power of the purse. Repairs and maintenence being the exception.

DW's avatar

Doesn't DC have a Historic District with bylaws on what you can and cannot do to historic landmarks? Isn't there a National Preservation Society????

Prodem50's avatar

Trump doesn't want a White House, he wants a fckng palace. how about this, fuck trump and his useless orange ass.

We need to remind him that it is the People's House and not the Pedo's House.

He makes me sick.

Joyce Aucoin's avatar

His own palace of Versailles.

Michelle W.'s avatar

Versailles has more taste in one rung of one antique chair than that orange fool could EVER come up with.

A perfect reply!! (Wish I’d thought of it! 😁)

Michelle W.'s avatar

:)

Versailles is a material representation of absolute grandeur and must be seen in person to experience the decoration. Louis XIV had GENUINE power and majesty; he was long the ultimate king of his time and he built Versailles to showcase that. He was not the Sun King without reason; this was, after all, the Âge des Lumières, the Age of Enlightenment. The breathtaking volume and size of the palace and grounds are more than suited to such lavish decoration. The sad wannabe in D.C. is pitifully insignificant in comparison to the Roi Soleil or even to any legitimate nobleperson, and his graceless attempts to jazz up the People's House with Temu appliqués and, now, an added ballroom (.v.) are merely the feeble attempts of up-jumped lowlife scum in its purest form.

[Full disclosure: I'm French. ;)]

Can we get a guillotine included with our purchase and some hatchet men?

Christopher Noyes's avatar

Yikes I thing George Washington was on the right track. Two terms that’s it

Michelle W.'s avatar

So far everyone agreed up until lately. These days oligarchs are just bored and instead of doing anything remotely useful with all the money they can't take with them, they enjoy tormenting the working plebe.

Leslie Hoge's avatar

What a desecration. He’s definitely planning to stay for the long term.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Melania destroying the rose Garden and building a useless "tennis pavilion told us they weren't planning on leaving the first time! They acted like it was one of their tacky, tasteless, bordello-inspired properties.

Leslie Hoge's avatar

Yeah. So utterly gross

sheri's avatar

His taste and respect for "The People's House," reflects a grotesque marriage of gaudy gold carnival objects combined with the feces smeared on the Capitol walls on January 6th.

Christopher Noyes's avatar

Events should be held elsewhere when you have more than a certain amount of guests (20)

DW's avatar

But higher than 20

And receives the Nobel for either Peace or Economics, as was suggested by Netanyahu and Navarro, respectively. You cannot make this stuff up!

I’d like to see the whole thing razed again

Vel Santic's avatar

it's gonna have to be fumigated and bombed by the pest-exterminators for longer than the first time, that's for sure.

CheriF's avatar

Wait a minute, wasn’t he just complaining about the Fed Reserve’s building remodeling cost??!!

Vel Santic's avatar

You can't make any sense when it comes to him. Nobody really can.

DW's avatar

Why

Yes, he was... hmmm

Maybe Ms Crockett can draft a bill to prevent it

Barbara W's avatar

Only as a way to oust Powell.

Judy Cross's avatar

Please keep pushing what he is doing to the WH and how much it is going to cost the tax payers. Also, keep letting them know that they will not be the one's using it. Please keep the Epstein files in the news. Don't let anyone forget what was done to these girls and Trump's promise to release the files. These girls need justice. It will be up to us to get it for them because Trump just wants to hide it. We need to support them and never let the pedophiles win. We need to take them down, put them in prison and take their money for these girls. Let us find a way to erase some of their nightmares and lift them up where they belong. Remember some of them could be mother's today, they could have been your daughter, sister or your friend. They might have been the girl next door. They should have had a normal life not being sexually molested by monsters.
