It’s been my observation that people who are not alcoholic when they get too drunk. Know they can’t drive and usually get a ride or call a lift. It is the alcoholics who are in total denial about who and what they are that usually try to drive Thinking they can. They’re arrogant denial is usually quite observable.
I would even trash my boycott for an Uber. But, I stay where I drink or get a ride. So, boycott is good. Walking use to be an option, but not safe anymore, at least where I live.

I once left a political after work hours party with a coworker who was completely snockered. We carpooled about 50 miles and I hadn’t had any concerns until that night. First, I had to take his keys so I could drive. Second, I had to stay close to the shoulder of the road and drive slowly enough that if he grabbed the wheel we wouldn’t die in the crash. I was terrified!!! He raged at me the entire way to his house where I picked up my car.
The next day he came into the office with NO memory of the drive home. Months later someone asked him why there was coolness between us. He said he didn’t really know, just that he knew I thought he was “dog breath.” I figured he got off easy with only having my cold shoulder not being cold in his grave!
