CNN let Trump lie for 90 minutes. See which Dem congressman called them out.
Were Jake Tapper and Dana Bash’s microphones muted while Trump was speaking?
Moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash had a responsibility to American voters to deliver some semblance of reality to Thursday night’s debate. Yet rather than being occasional agents of truth, they were intentional bystanders to Trump’s lies.
Thankfully someone finally called BS on CNN. Congressman Dan Goldman (D-NY) called out the network – live on the network itself. Bold.
Goldman served as lead counsel in Trump’s first impeachment inquiry and, as assistant U.S. attorney, prosecuted Russian organized crime, white-collar criminals, and other high-profile defendants. He knows how to defend the truth.
Seconds after the debate concluded, analyst John King said the quiet part out loud: “Donald Trump broke the factcheck machine more than I can count tonight and that will be on the record as we go forward.”
As. We. Go. Forward. Not during the debate. Not when Trump’s lies can be challenged. Not when voters are watching. Not when it matters.
In our real lives, a presidential candidate stood on a debate stage, claimed multiple states have a policy of murdering live babies, and that candidate was somehow allowed to continue speaking, unchallenged.
Anyone else feeling nostalgic for Candy Crowley?
