Supporters of abortion rights in Arkansas submitted signatures to put the Arkansas Abortion Amendment on the November ballot. The measure would protect abortion rights in the state constitution.

Previous state referendums have resulted in the majority of voters supporting the pro-choice position, even in red states like Kansas and Kentucky.
Arkansas became the NINTH state where the requisite number of signatures has been submitted to advance the process for a November 5 vote to protect abortion care, according to NBC. Arizonans delivered their signatures this week. In six states – Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, New York, and South Dakota – the ballot questions have already been confirmed for the November ballot.
Current law only permits Arkansans to have an abortion if their life is at risk; however, the Arkansas Department of Health stated that zero life-saving abortions were provided in the state last year.
