Arizona turns OUT for Kamala and Tim
Today’s Big Stuff — Weekend edition. Saturday, August 10, 2024
It’s Saturday. There are 87 days until the general election. The VP picks up a big endorsement, Trump calls the manager to complain and it’s another big crowd for the dynamic duo.
Be advised: This newsletter uses profanity. But it really cuts loose on the weekend.
Note: What is up, Sexy Patriots? It’s Today’s Big Stuff coming to you large and in charge on a Saturday for an abbreviated version of our newsletter. We figure this election is gonna be over in the blink of an eye, so we’re gonna leave it all out on the field and only occasionally take a day off. Because self-care and mental health are important. But honestly, we’re having too much fun to rest right now. If Kamala and Tim can be happy warriors out there fighting for America, then we sure as shit can too. We do understand we probably won’t draw the same size crowds.
WOW! That’s a big happy crowd! Meanwhile, Trump diverted his plane away from Montana where he was having his only rally of the week. But it looks like the audience didn’t show up either and maybe that’s why Trump tried to skip out. What a freaking loser. We’ve even reached the place where we feel sorry for his orange ass. So here’s our three point strategy for him to turn his campaign around. First, stop being an asshole. Second, stop being such a fucking asshole. Third, just give up and go fuck yourself.
We’ve been laughing the whole time we wrote today’s opening because it’s so fun. And the really messed up part is that’s probably better advice than Trump is getting from his actual advisors. Oh well. They can kiss our asses too. Y’all have a blessed day. More: KTHV
Note two: If you’ve never listened to our weekly podcast and you want to know what all this cussing sounds like with Sam’s Kentucky accent and Adam’s tolerance for Sam’s Kentucky accent, then we have some news: Our weekly Spotify will be finished getting linked up over the weekend and available here on Substack and Spotify! We will update this post when it is complete.
Note three: Mark your calendars — it looks like Thursday is when the White House is going to unveil the results of its Medicare price negotiations. While all this crazy politics shit has been happening, the Biden administration has been at work lowering drug prices. Freaking amazing. It’s gonna be a good day. More: Politico
Note four: Yo, Wisconsin, we’re sorry we bug you so much, but it’s your fault for being so dang important to America. You’ve got two ballot initiatives that are a big deal. You’re going to want to Vote NO on both. Please click this link to learn more. More: WUWM
Note five: This is some country over party shit that you love to see. Thank you, Mr. Mayor.
Note six: Mike Pence popped up to remind everyone he’s not supporting the dude he served under as Vice President. It’s really kinda crazy that the press don’t talk about that more. More: The Hill
Note seven: Wanna hear something hilarious? Rogan and another far-right podcast chickened out on endorsing RFK after they got roasted by Trump and Catturd and his MAGA mob. And if you don’t understand what that sentence means, then we really envy you. More: Deadline
Note eight: Oh look! A cool and totally normally functioning country where the richest man in the world can pick one of his investors as a goddamn federal judge. This ain’t even banana republic shit? This is rubber banana republic shit! More: NPR
Note nine: A new New York Times poll shows VP Harris surging to the lead in Pennsylvania (50-46), Michigan (50-46) and Wisconsin (50-46). Are we having fun yet? More: New York Times
Note 10: The Times also has a story about how much Trump is losing it and he keeps calling the Vice President of the United States a “bitch.” There’s a bitch in this race to be sure, but it ain’t Kamala. More: Axios
Note 11: How can anyone not love these two? Oh right. There’s a lot of joyless assholes out there.
YUGE
Yesterday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris secured the endorsement of the Culinary Union. It’s hard to overstate how crucial an endorsement this was, especially in Nevada where the union is particularly strong. Harris and Tim Walz are fighters for working people, and it’s cool to see them enjoying support from organized labor. Also, a new poll in Nevada shows VP Harris leading by six points in the state. Eyes emoji!!! More: The Nevada Independent
LOLOL!
So Trump is reaching new levels of pathetic loser. You know how he made up that story Thursday about crashing in a helicopter with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown? Well after the New York Times reported that it was bullshit, Trump called Maggie Haberman to complain. When she asked for the flight records to back up his lies, he made fun of her voice and question. He also threatened to sue the paper. AND THEN ANOTHER BLACK MAN SAID IT WAS ACTUALLY HIM IN THE HELICOPTER!!! Oh and then they played the theme song from Titanic ar his rally. So yeah, things are going great for that dude lol. Seriously, he is a mess. Try to imagine the outrage and attention from the press if Vice President Harris had a run like the orange asshead did. Or just enjoy watching that sick sonofabitch flail. Thank you, Glendale!
So continuing the trend they set all week, Vice President Kamala Harris and her running Tim Walz packed in a huge crowd in Glendale, Arizona, showing love to a critical swing state and getting some love from American heroes Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords. About 15,000 people packed into the arena, leading Walz to make a great joke about how nobody cares about crowd size anyway. Trump will probably call him to complain. The blue team is rolling. Let’s enjoy the hell out of it, and let’s keep it going. More: 12News

National news media choosing to cover Donald Trump’s firehose of lies live yesterday while refusing to cover Kamala Harris’s rally live was gross malpractice. Day after day after day, they are failing us. One can only conclude they want Trump back for the ratings.
Yay for the mayor of Mesa. Country over party: say the words out loud again, please.
